‘The Beach Blonde’ in Apocalypse Confidential
I am delighted to say that my short story ‘The Beach Blonde’ has been published in the latest issue of the great online noir magazine Apocalypse Confidential. If you’re a fan of James Ellroy, crime fiction or noir in general, then I think you might like this story. Here’s a taster:
“If you seek a pleasant peninsula, leave Detroit”. That should be the State motto, not Si Quæris Peninsulam Amœnam Circumspice, Jimmy thought, as he walked briskly through the streets of Roseville. He looked at his watch, the time was 5:20 PM and the darkness of a winter night had already descended over Gratiot Avenue, alleviated only by a few dimly lit street lamps and shafts of light emanating behind drawn bedroom curtains. Jimmy looked up at the second story of all the houses to see if he could catch an erotic moment. The grim outline of his motel slowly came into view. It was a pathetic sight, all peeling paint and brown hued windows, but it was still Jimmy’s home and it was still Jimmy’s business. READ MORE
