Easy Motion Tourist by Leye Adenle

November 8, 2026

For the latest episode of Ellroy Reads, I review Leye Adenle’s wonderful debut novel Easy Motion Tourist. I had the privilege of interviewing Leye Adenle a few years ago and it was back then that I first learned that James Ellroy had endorsed his work. It’s not difficult to see why. Set in Lagos, Easy Motion Tourist is a gripping thriller with a plot that interweaves ritual murder, police and political corruption, as well as the dangers of sex work in one of the world’s fastest-growing megacities.

Enjoy the episode, and do remember to subscribe to the channel, like, share and comment on the content. I’ve been focused a lot on Ellroy Reads in recent months. I’ll still be producing a lot of content for the show. However, I feel that I should spend more time on Venetian Vase as well. So in the coming months you’ll be seeing a greater diversity of reviews and articles. Rest assured, there will still be a great deal of material on James Ellroy. If you need your Ellroy fix, then I’ll be your dealer.
