James Ellroy’s THIS STORM Events
May 15, 2019
The dates and locations for James Ellroy’s publicity tour for This Storm are now available online. In the US, Ellroy is taking the book nationwide. He will be appearing at venues in New York, Connecticut, Washington DC, California, Oregon, Washington State, Arizona, Texas, and in his now hometown of Denver, Colorado. You can find full details here.
On this side of the pond, Ellroy will be appearing at the Southbank on May 27th, Dublin’s Murder One Festival on May 30th, and at the Hay Festival on June 1st.
I’ve read This Storm twice now and will be posting my review on publication day: June 4th.

Read it twice already??? Call me jealous. Without pre-empting your full review in June, any brief impressions you can share?
My lips are sealed until June. I’m still figuring out what I think about it.
Fair enough and suitably ambiguous with that second sentence. Any plans to see Ellroy when he is in Britain? The web version of the Guardian newspaper is having an online chat with him this upcoming Monday. Fans can submit questions ahead of time- I’ve just submitted one myself. Should be interesting…
I’m seeing Ellroy in Manchester. Yes, the Guardian coverage has been excellent so far.
I’m thrilled that Ellroy actually answered one of my questions today on the online chat, even though i was hoping for a different response. Sounds like he is done with with all of the quartet characters and storylines once the Second Quartet is finished, so we’ll never get to see Dudley during the Black Dahlia investigation. Also sounds like the epilogue to White Jazz will forever be unresolved. At any rate, he did make an effort in responding to the the questions put to him and he started off his response to my question by calling it “provocative shit”- which I’m guessing is an Ellrovian compliment… 🙂
Yes, I’d take that as a compliment. Great coverage in the Guardian and great publicity for Ellroy. Looking forward to seeing him tomorrow.
